Wildlife Habitat vs. Development in Teton County's Natural Resource Overlay

To survive, wildlife needs year-round access to food and water, large areas undisturbed by humans and pets, and corridors to be able to move between summer and winter habitat.

We’ve mapped the best data on wildlife habitat in Teton County to help evaluate the Natural Resource Overlay zone, a planning tool that's meant to preserve the diversity and abundance of Jackson Hole's wildlife.

We’re sharing the maps with the community, the town and county, and Clarion Associates, the Comp Plan consultant, to provide this pertinent information during the Jackson/Teton County Comprehensive Plan updating process, which is going on NOW. (Click here for more on the Comp Plan update.)

Wildlife Values vs. Oil and Gas Leasing on the Bridger-Teton
This series of maps shows the conflict between critical wildlife habitat and areas in the Bridger-Teton National Forest that are open to oil and gas leasing. They also show how vulnerable the forest’s special places are to future energy development.

We hope they’ll spur public involvement in the Bridger-Teton’s management plan revision process, which is going on NOW.
